Museum parking, paid overnight stay

The place is no longer free. Parking fees are paid via an app. Motorhome pitches with water and electricity connections are now being built next door. They are expected to open soon.

The ground is quite sloped in places and, in our opinion, the area is almost too large to spend a sheltered night there. Several signs warned of theft. We were also unlucky because, from 5:30 a.m., the forest road directly adjacent was being renovated and construction vehicles were waiting in the parking area for deployment. There are nicer small parking areas and gravel spots on the edge of the forest nearby.

Simple gravel parking area. Quiet and ideal for one night. We stayed there with two other campers. There was construction noise in the morning, apparently because pitches with electricity are being built. Recommended for travelers passing along Lake Vänern.

Very quiet place, there were two of us. Several cars arrived early in the morning; everything was quiet during the night. It seems a motorhome site with electrical connections will open soon :)

The place is quiet overnight, but internet and phone service are poor. Many day-trippers arrive by car during the day. Ideal for hikes and great bike tours of every difficulty level.

According to the museum employee, it is allowed to stay for one day in ALL parking areas. Nature reserve or not!!!

Spent a quiet night in the parking area. Dry toilets near the museum. Do not spend the night in the other parking areas in the national park, as this is forbidden—but unfortunately it often happens. These places are only intended as starting points for a hike. Unfortunately, we did not see a moose. It is useful to bring protection against the numerous horseflies, plus a tick remover, especially if you have a dog.

Spent a quiet night alone here, but construction work on the parking area started at 7 am (weekday). The work is to install chargers for RV parking in a section of the parking area : ) According to plan it should be ready ‘summer -25’, so hopefully pretty soon.

Simple and practical parking during the day. A little uneven. Nothing to complain about.

Quiet night with five campers in the spacious area. From 10:00 a.m. there was quite a lot of activity with cars, hikers, and museum visitors.

10–12 July 2024: Huge parking area in the middle of the nature reserve, with many hiking and cycling routes from here. A lake for swimming is nearby. The pit toilets were better than portable toilets: waste drops deep, there is toilet paper, and even disinfectant. We were alone the first night and shared the second night with four other campers, but it was still very quiet and there was plenty of space.

Good place to stay. Gravel but mostly flat. 3 campers tonight but lot of space. We got under heavy mosquito attack!

Parking area in front of the museum on Hunneberg, explicitly permitted for one night, perhaps in exchange for buying something in the gift shop. The pitches are level, directly beside a gently babbling stream, with practically no traffic at night; we slept peacefully. No electricity, perfect for self-sufficient campers.

Good starting point for hikes. However, there were a great many mosquitoes when we visited, so after the hike, which lasted about four hours, we were completely covered in bites. Unfortunately, we did not see any moose.

Okay, you stay without any service facilities on a gravel area. Wonderful peace and quiet and a good starting point for hikes.
