Tarmac parking at the end of the road beside the river, with a good-sized play park and nearby walks. It is flat, spacious and free, with easy access and local amenities nearby. Dog walkers, runners and local traffic can make it busy until evening, while recent overnight stays were generally quiet. The castle visit is paid, and the river is suitable for swimming, though the water is cold.

It’s a great location, but we were unfortunate enough to park on an evening when 7 or 8 carfuls of the local youth descended.

Lovely free parking spot next to river, walks, kids park & big bin! Flat easy access road in, no barriers! Busy with dog walkers, runners etc until about 8pm. Quiet overnight, only one other camper van, cars arrive early morning with dog walkers. No signs to say you can’t park up overnight!
Parked up for our supper before moving on. Lots of room to park, few cars came and went but a nice spot by the river.
9-10-21 Stayed here for one night. Excellent spot behind the castle; it becomes quiet after dark when the dog walkers leave. Would definitely go back.Translating
