Roadside picnic area, loud traffic

Great free / along the road spot! And we saw dolphins swimming!!!

The cars are very loud and the road feels heavily used throughout the night. Two trucks honked several times as they drove past. Nicely located for a short picnic, but I would not sleep here again.✦Translating

Excellent free spot; there are a few stone benches where you can sit down to eat. Unfortunately, it was rainy and chilly for us, so we ate comfortably in the motorhome. The cars on the road pass at 80 km/h and are therefore clearly audible.✦Translating

Very personally I didn't like it here, mostly because 2 vehicles hooted at us whilst we were picnicking and I genuinely couldn't work out why. Very much "on show" for the passing traffic. No one hooted overnight and we were joined by a couple of other vans and a tent. Incidentally lots of people stopped for a quick swim but we didn't see anyone using the layby as a toilet.

There is a public bathroom in Årdalstangen in the city center by closed swimmingpool. Please use this and do not use the nature as a bathroom.

A nightmare!!! The road is extremely busy, until very late in the evening (midnight or later) and very early in the morning. We were woken at 5 a.m. by numerous trucks and cars passing. Beautiful place, but I strongly advise against sleeping here!✦Translating
