A small, discreet and relatively level car park beside the medieval castle mound of The Peel of Lumphanan. It is quiet overnight and fits one van easily, or two at a pinch. Access is via a dirt road to a dead-end parking area. There are no facilities, so it suits only self-contained motorhomes and campers.

July 20, 2026. Easy access, relatively flat and discreet parking. Night without any disturbance. Please respect this place so that overnight stays remain possible. Thanks to the municipality. Recommended.
Easy to find - look out for the grassy Castle mound in the meadow near the old disused railway. Very quiet and peaceful night. Small carpark is level and would fit one van easily and two at a pinch.
I missed the ‘entrance’ or side way and didn’t see remains of a castle. Local helped me out. Castle is long gone, a dirt road takes you to a dead end space where you can park and where locals park for walks. You pass a terrain where heavy equipment etc is stored.
Nice and quiet all night, perfect for one vehicle.
