Grote Rietplas, 7828, Emmen
Been here?
A daytime parking place directly beside a recreational lake with a sandy beach, swimming, large meadows, and a playground. The shallow water is suitable for young children, with a deeper section for adults. Toilets and outdoor showers have been available, but facilities can vary. Overnight stays are prohibited, despite occasional tolerance in the past.

Super beautiful. Sandy beach with a very shallow entrance, also great for toddlers. It suddenly becomes deep enough for swimming, which is ideal for adults.
Very beautiful place by a recreational lake. We enjoyed a lovely walk with the dog. However, my little motorhome would not start in the evening, so I stayed. I saw no enforcement officers or police. The next day I called roadside assistance; the starter motor was broken. It could not be repaired the same day, so I stayed another night. I saw a police car twice, but they said nothing, so draw your own conclusions...
I came here by chance, even though spending the night was forbidden. I had a wonderful day on the beach. Two German campers said they had already spent two nights there, so I did too, and there were no checks. I left again at 9 in the morning.
Hiemertje was proven right (on 25 July 2024).... On 29 August at around 7 p.m., two friendly enforcement officers visited us and said that overnight stays are forbidden. The reason: complaints from the area, mainly about campers with white license plates who make a mess. Awnings extended, barbecues, chairs, tables and bicycles scattered around the camper. Such a shame...
Very good camping place. Beautifully situated among the trees, close to public toilets and a place where you can swim.
Super spot! Perfect with children! Thank you to Emmen for tolerating this place!
What a beautiful place to stay! However, in our opinion it will not last much longer because of the “campers” with their awnings, chairs, tables and even barbecues... It is a tolerated overnight parking area (confirmed by passing enforcement officers), so parking and sleeping overnight only.
Great place, and free of charge. There are even toilets, it is clean and right by the lake, with a playground. Great for children. We stayed one night; despite it being Monday, the parking lot was busy—a youth hangout. It was not very disruptive. Tip: next to the parking lot, you are allowed to stay on the grass.
What a wonderful little place! Toilet with toilet paper and an outdoor shower. We had a quiet night. Recommended, and I hope the “campers” keep their awnings closed and do not put tables and chairs in front of their campers so many people can enjoy this beautiful spot ❤️
Good place, quiet night!
Beautiful place for swimming, and the zoo is not far away either. There are bins and a toilet, but no toilet paper. Minus point: at weekends it is a meeting place for young people showing off their loud exhausts, unfortunately until 3 a.m. in my case. Otherwise a great place; I would visit again.
Very nice place to spend the day and night. Lovely walks around the lake. Due to the very good weather, there was some activity until evening, but it was very quiet at night.
Great place to stay. We were here on May 6. Quiet night. Local residents look somewhat surprised and a little disapproving, so it was especially unfortunate that campers once again behaved as if they were camping—awning out, chairs and table in front of the camper. A shame, because the neighbors will surely complain.
