The Heron is a small camping area on a meadow behind the pub, with walks around the river and excellent pub food. The latest reported price is £25 for a pitch with fresh water; wastewater disposal is not possible. Chemical toilets can be emptied into a concrete shaft, but it was reported blocked and causing a sewage smell. Trains run across the canal and can be heard without being obtrusive.

great little stop, spent 2 nights here . great walks up and around the river. Brilliant food in the pub, excellent steak pie
Site on a meadow beside The Heron pub. £25 for a pitch on the meadow with fresh water. Wastewater disposal is not possible, and the chemical toilet can be emptied into a concrete shaft where it seeps away. When we were there, the shaft was completely blocked and the whole site smelled of faeces. For that money, you are better off disposing of waste and staying somewhere else.
Stayed for 1 night. Pub food is excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Small camping park up to rear of pub next to canal. Frequent trains in use on opposite side of canal. You can hear them but they are not obtrusive. Water. Waste disposal. EHU available. Bins.
Just stayed the one night, we were the only ones but lovely stay, train line near by but didn’t spoil it for us. Fresh water, grey waste and chemical toilet disposal. No toilet block, but toilets available at the pub in opening hours. £10 per night without ehu, £20 with. Pub very busy and inviting, food great. Highly recommended.
Stayed at the Heron 24th Feb 23 very good food with local atmosphere. £20 including electric hookup. Very quiet and peaceful night and would happily stay again. Thanks
