Been here?
Wild lakeside stop at an abandoned campsite, directly beside Lake Ohrid, with swimming, clear water and a very calm setting. There are no facilities apart from rubbish bins, and the area has considerable litter and some dog-related safety concerns. Restaurants and a small supermarket are about a 10 minute walk away, while both Albanian and Macedonian mobile networks may be available near the border.

Although neglected and in need of cleaning, the place is worthwhile. I am giving it one star to draw ATTENTION to the presence of stray dogs that are quite territorial and dangerous towards other dogs. I personally had a bad experience. WARNING!
Superb, directly on the lake and very quiet. Unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish, although it is fairly clean along the water. Close to the border, so you can pick up Albanian and Macedonian networks—beware of roaming charges!
The view is dreamy. Unfortunately, the place smells strongly of toilets and there are faeces everywhere. We left because we felt uncomfortable. There were many other campers, though.
Wow what can I say about this incredible park up!!! What a great location right on the edge of the lake. Swimming in the lake, SUP and a spot of fishing. No facilities apart from rubbish bins. Restaurants and a little supermarket 10 minute walk away. Go it’s one of those places that’s good for the soul. Please feed the gentle giant dog, she’s beautiful and loves being around people.
Very beautiful and quiet location by the water. One drawback is the stray dog that lives here. If you have your own dog with you, this can cause problems.
Several places to park. We spent one night and it was very quiet. As mentioned before, there is a lot of rubbish scattered around the area, which is a shame for such a beautiful place. We had no problems with mosquitoes. Wonderful view and incredibly clean, pleasant water.
It can be beautiful… when I arrived there were 30 people setting up a camp with tents and campfires. There was also a lot of rubbish and mosquitoes, but it is directly by the water.
A very beautiful, quiet and peaceful camping area. You can swim in the lake. On the way there, eat fish at the last fish restaurant; the prices are reasonable.
Beautifully located on the clear lake, but completely covered in rubbish. Unfortunately, collecting rubbish is no longer enough. Super-loving stray dogs hide in the abandoned huts. A young brown-and-black stray female dog stole our hearts, but then suddenly disappeared. If you see her, give her extra love! The nearby restaurant is delicious, and there is a hidden hiking trail up to the chapel.
You can swim in the lake; the water is clear. There are shaded areas. The surroundings are a little dirty but not too bad. It is a very large area and accessible with vehicles of any size.
This place can be full during the day, however, during the night, plenty of spaces to park. Unfortunately, there is a lot of trash, but not on the side of the shore. If you want relaxing by the water, this is your place.
If you can ignore the rubbish, this is such an incredibly beautiful place. You park directly by the lake. The view is amazing and the abandoned campsite invites exploration. There are stray dogs, but they are very friendly and had no problem with our female dog either. Please give the large female dog living in the white house something to eat. She is wonderful!
Abandoned campsite, very suitable for overnight stays. Suitable for all vehicles. We were alone and considered this the best free place to find on the North Macedonian side of the lake. You have to ignore the abandoned buildings and rubbish. Excellent for relaxing and swimming. The water is very cold but crystal clear.
Thank you for sharing this. It seems to be a little less dirty outside the season. The lake water is very, very clear. We are not exactly at the GPS point, but there are quite a few possible places to park. Vegetation has taken over the old facilities, so the site is a little less visible and sinister.
Basically a beautiful spot. You can park directly by the lake on gravel or further up under the trees. BUT: An unbelievable amount of rubbish everywhere. The bins are overflowing, and just as much is lying beside them. The bushes are completely covered in rubbish. If you look forward towards Ohrid, everything is beautiful, but definitely do not look behind you. Cars came by from time to time. The locals were all friendly!
The place is away from typical tourist towns, and that is its main advantage. In the morning, locals arrive. The lake is clean and ideal for swimming. A huge downside is the rubbish scattered everywhere. We tried to collect some of it, but it would be nicer if everyone picked up a little. :) In the evening, an unpleasant wind may blow because the wooded area is used as a toilet.
We did not stay overnight because a storm came and we wanted to return to Albania, but it is a perfect place to spend a few days.
You can stay here comfortably for a week, if you have your own toilet!!! A small shop and restaurant are not far away. The pitch is level in most places and offers direct access to the wonderfully clear, clean and refreshing Lake Ohrid. Many locals. In the morning, a woman came and sold fresh homemade pastries. We did not see the black dog.
Quiet place, trees around. Trash also. Swimming possible.
Great place, even on the weekend with lots of locals. Grass, close to the lake and shadow in the afternoon. Water is warm and great for snorkeling. One star less as the dog was present one day. He's in a poor condition and was passively aggressive towards our dog.
Basically a beautiful place, now full of locals, which is absolutely not a problem. Warning to dog owners: There is a large black dog here that went straight for our dog, bit my partner on the arm, and jumped at my back barking and snapping when we separated the two dogs.
We spent two nights at the end of May; it was super quiet at night. During the day, some very friendly locals came by. It is a shame that the rubbish bins are overflowing. We stayed at the entrance next to the lake after cleaning the area. Please keep it clean so we can continue enjoying the place!
