Unnamed Road, 23036, Calcarola
Been here?
A free riverside rest area with camper parking, tables, barbecues, rubbish bins, a water point, and a covered wooden lookout tower. It is generally isolated, peaceful, and well maintained, with a cycle path and rafting base nearby. Access is difficult and narrow, and it is best suited to vans. Mosquitoes or small insects may appear at night, and one recent report described concerning sexual behaviour by visitors.

Very quiet area, with a fountain and a place for barbecues. I stayed here in a tent for one night. Very peaceful; hardly anyone passes by.
Went here for lunch stop. Isolated and possibly a place where men 'meet'. A man turned up in his car... kept staring at us & sat under the lookout tower. 2nd man turned up on his bike. They kept staring at us. 2nd man went behind the trees. 1st man followed with his belt and zip undone. Stopped and stared at us & even walked towards us... then went behind trees. Felt very uncomfortable. We left.
Very beautiful and pleasant parking area, with a view along the waterway, very well maintained, and a wooden tower offering a panoramic view. A small fountain is available, and the bins are emptied regularly. Many thanks to this municipality for this completely free and very pleasant stop.
A mega-cool place to stay. Hardly anyone during the week; several families on weekends. There is still plenty of space to spread out. A small shop is in the village, about a 20-minute walk away, if you need something.
Very quiet place, recommended.
Excellent place with benches, along the river, with several barbecue spots and plenty of driftwood brought by the river. There is also an old piece of a stove that can be very useful for cooking.
Very clean and quiet site, with tables, a water point, and barbecue areas. Direct access to the river for swimming. There were only cyclists in tents, and we were not disturbed.
Cool spot with a fountain, rubbish bins, and tables. The Adda River is perfect for cooling off. Be careful: there are gnats at night.
As previous comments say, getting there is a little difficult, but once there the location is excellent. New tables, barbecues, rubbish bins, and a water point. The river is right there, but the current was too strong for swimming. Insects at night, but nothing unusual for summer beside a river.
Spectacular! Clean, quiet, with new benches and tables, rubbish containers, and water. It has everything! It is in spectacular surroundings, and we spent a wonderfully cool night. To prevent Google from taking you along prohibited roads, it is better to enter Calcarola and turn off from there to the parking area.
Very complicated to reach, poorly signposted, with narrow sections along the roads suggested by Google Maps. Suitable only for a van.
Quiet and pleasant place by the water, with a table and barbecue.
Nice spot for cooling off, quiet, clean, and little frequented for a Saturday. It is better in reality than in the photos.
Brilliant little spot next to the river, away from the noise. There’s now a bbq / fire pits & rubbish bins
Beautiful, clean, and quiet place. Near a river. Drinking water available.
Perfect, lovely, green, quiet, with a water tap for refilling. TAKE YOUR GARBAGE with you. You can go for walks. We were alone. Attention: approach from Sondrio!
Very good... too bad swimming in the river is not easy. Otherwise quiet and clean, and worth keeping clean apart from one or two things. Fishermen and local youths.
