62 Zum Badestrand, 24159, Kiel
Been here?
A large, unpaved daytime parking area under trees, about a 5-minute walk from the beach on the Kiel Fjord. It offers views of Laboe and the Naval Memorial, while the beach has public toilets in good condition. The area can become very full on sunny weekends, and noise from visitors may occur. Overnight stays have not been permitted since August 1, 2025, and fines of at least 50€ have been issued.

We spent the night here. Around 9:30 a.m., the municipal police fined all the Germans €50 because overnight stays have been prohibited since the beginning of this month. The police were lenient with us: we were not fined, but we were registered. So be warned: daytime parking only, €2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Despite paying the parking fee, we received a €50 fine. Nowhere does it say that overnight stays are not allowed here.
We spent a quiet night here in our camper. The Kiel Fjord is just a few meters away. We also left the parking area before 10 a.m. because from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there is a €2 parking fee for both a day ticket and a 24-hour ticket. Acorns occasionally fall from the trees onto the roof.
Actually a nice, large parking area, but this morning we were woken by the municipal authorities and now have to pay a fine of at least €50 for wild camping... Despite the option to park for 24 hours at the meter, the city of Kiel considers this an administrative offense.
nice place to sleep! relaxed and only 10 mins walk to the beach.
It was a great place to sleep, plenty of space, we felt safe and it was quiet. But it rained the previous days and the ground is earth/sand/gravel with plenty of puddles and it made your shoes dirty. In the morning the park maintenance cut the grass so now we also have wet grass bits on ours shoes when going back into the camper. We recommend this place but rain can make this place less than ideal
Great place to park during the day! Please!!! Use the waste-disposal and fresh-water facilities at the Aral station 800 m around the corner! Likewise, please only park here and refrain from any activities that suggest wild camping! Places like this are now rare and should be treated with great care and, above all, appreciated by all of us!
Extremely crowded in sunny weather; on weekends, drunken people shouting late in the evening, etc. Actually not suitable for campers at all.
I spent a night here last weekend with my son. Very nice and genuinely quiet in the evening. Unfortunately, despite using mosquito repellent, we were practically attacked by mosquitoes. Mosquito nets would certainly be useful here. We would happily come back.
Great place for a quiet night. Nice and shady, sheltered from the wind. The ferry route to Kiel and Laboe is right outside the door—perfect for an excursion. Thanks to the municipality!!!
Definitely recommended for one night. Only four spaces were occupied when we were there, and the beach is just a five-minute walk away. There are also public toilets in good condition!
I hope this lovely overnight spot remains available for a long time. Please leave nothing but footprints and tire tracks, and be considerate of nature and local residents. Great, level spot. We stayed here quite peacefully with several other campers.
Very nice, right by the beach, quiet. I spent one night here and took the dogs to the beach. The weather wasn't very good, so it wasn't crowded. Very nice.
Large, quiet parking area in Kiel—ideal for self-sufficient campers. Only a five-minute walk from the beach! Several motorhomes were parked there at night, which made it feel safe. I would have felt less comfortable alone, but that's certainly a matter of personal preference. No facilities, but absolutely recommended for a relaxing night near the beach. It was still cold and quiet in early April; in summer it will probably be much busier. I spent one night here and really enjoyed it!
Nice parking area, great location, clean, pleasantly quiet night! Currently (mid-March), be a little careful when arriving at night: TOAD MIGRATION along the access road. :-) Please try not to run over the little creatures en masse.
After a long search, we found this place. The night was very quiet and pleasant apart from the strong wind we unfortunately had. As already described, the meters are covered, so we were able to stay for free.
The parking area is easy to reach, even for larger motorhomes. Plenty of spaces available! Quiet at night, many walkers during the day. A big plus: waste-disposal facilities nearby at Aral, opposite the Porsche Center, about 1 km away.
Slept very well! We were completely alone. No parking fees because the meters are covered. Great walking opportunities, especially with a dog. The town center is within walking distance. Toilets are five minutes away on foot, although I did not use them.
Sometimes I really wonder what some people expect from a parking lot (!) The place is great :) Five to ten minutes' walk to the beach. Naturally, it is also used by other visitors during the day—it's not a motorhome site, after all. Nevertheless, we had a wonderfully quiet night, and €2 per day (payable from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; otherwise free) is a bargain! We'll be back!!
Everything as mentioned several times before, but now in autumn acorns keep falling from the trees onto the roof and windshield. It's impossible to sleep like that, and our dog was also scared by the banging. In the middle of the night we fled to a roadside spot in the industrial area! We were here once in winter, and at that time it was a good place to spend a night before taking the ferry.
Free at night, only €2 during the day. Public toilet at the beach. We had a very quiet night and a pleasant evening at the dog beach. It's great that this place is available.
Quiet location, shady. Climbing park, beach, and mini-golf are reachable within a few minutes' walk.
Quiet and shady, nice place, lovely broad beach. Slept well, no disturbances. Just the occasional acorn falling on your roof. Spotless toilets and cold public shower 300m to the right at the beach. Paid parking still 10-16.
Overnight stays only are free. No prohibition sign. The dog beach is not nice. We were only here to spend the night.
Some cars when we came at 21:00 just before the sunset, only one van left 2 hours later and for the rest of the night. Still pretty empty and quiet at 10:00 when we left. Public toilet at the beach that was quite clean but no toilet paper or soap!
A quiet parking area with plenty of shade and little traffic during the week. Much busier on weekends. We only spent the day here. Mobile reception was sufficient for working.
