Unnamed Road, 36779, Bonaval
Been here?
A peaceful natural area beside a river with several waterfalls, tables, benches and a rubbish bin. Overnight, the main sound is the waterfalls. The access road is rough and uneven, but a 7.30m motorhome reached the area without difficulty.

A spot like the ones we love to find, in the middle of nature, with only the sound of the waterfall lulling you to sleep. Let’s keep these places clean; there is a rubbish bin available. The access road is unpaved, but we reached the end without any problem with a 7.3 m motorhome.
Incredible place in the middle of the mountains. We were alone all afternoon and night. We took advantage of it to do a route down to the Loureza and Bugalleira pools. Peace and nature. The road to the area has many potholes and stones; we passed without problems in a 6-meter van.
Good place for spending the night. The trees provide shade at some times of day. There are many tables and a rubbish container, and good access to different parts of the pool. IMPORTANT: bring insect repellent because there are many horseflies.
Very beautiful place, but unfortunately we were sent away by the forest rangers. Sadly, we could not spend the night.
Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful; you can only hear the sound of water falling in small cascades. It must be nicer to spend the night here in spring than in summer. It is a little far from the beach and villages.
Wonderful place by the waterfall, with copper-containing water that is safe for dogs. There are rubbish bins and seating areas too. We spent one night there.
Super-quiet night, alone with the sound of the water in the background. The place is very beautiful and worth it. Having tables and a rubbish container is always a plus.
WATCH THE ACCESS. We did not spend the night, although we wanted to. A beautiful and seemingly peaceful place. BUT the access is somewhat difficult: an uneven dirt track; I have included photos. I only managed to get there with the Maps.me app; Waze did not show it.
We liked this place a lot. It is very beautiful and quiet at night, with rubbish containers. Keep in mind that many people come during the day to visit the waterfalls. Access is not very comfortable, as it is a dirt-and-stone track with slopes, but it is manageable in a van. It is a shame that the spring is not potable; the water tastes of iron. There is a loose mastiff in the area, but it is friendly.
We tried to access it with a campervan from Oia, but it was impossible to get up.
Very peaceful place surrounded by trees with access to the pools. There is a 5-kilometer walking route. 5/5.
