Lochside parking, access road closed

Beautiful spot for one night, relatively level, with a great view. Space for up to five vehicles depending on size. However, the A838 is currently officially closed, probably until the end of September. If you drive on it anyway, out of respect you should not stay overnight there or at another informal spot, but use the only campsite currently open.✦Translating

Quiet spot at Loch Merkland, large, level and peaceful. Perfect 5G reception.✦Translating

We arrived at night and there was only one camper next to us. When we got up, we fell in love with the landscape. Ideal if you are traveling with dogs so they can swim.✦Translating

Lovely park up with amazing views of loch merkland and feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, the roads quiet the odd passing vehicle. Very windy when we stayed and the odd midge in the morning but if your passing this area it’s a gem! Good phone signal as well!

Compared to the other parking lots along the way this one is one of the best. Flat surface and very peaceful as there is not as much tourism in this area.

Great flat spot with loads of space, where you can park without disturbing anyone. We saw fishermen on the loch, so permits may be available nearby. Would recommend.✦Translating

Very large flat layby by the side of the Loch. Good phone signal and lovely views. Not much traffic after 2030hrs.
