Campeggio Grigna - Colle Balisio (LC)

Advertised everywhere as open, including on the gate. We came specifically because of this, as it is not exactly on the way, but nobody was there. We tried calling, but no answer; they said they were closed because they were trimming a hedge... whatever. Then they asked how many nights we wanted to stay. If we had stayed more nights, they would have opened it for us, but not for one night.✦Translating

Quite good. During a heatwave, the coolness at 700 meters above sea level is appreciated. Pitches are fairly spacious but not shaded. Half are permanent residents, leaving about 20 spaces for visitors. Men’s facilities perfect, but the shower is timed. Women’s facilities very average and old, but clean. Update: motorhome pitch €15 including electricity; €8 per adult. Beautiful cycling routes.✦Translating

A somewhat dated campsite that apparently is for sale. Beside a busy road, but quiet at night. The facilities need modernization. We still spent two nights here because it is at altitude, has fresh air, and is away from the crowds at the lake. Flat terraced pitches. €31 per night for two people with a van, all included.✦Translating

In the middle of the mountains, you feel alone in the world. Large pitches (not 200...), with electricity; for two people, €31 per night. Showers and hot water included. Laundry and dryer (€4 each). If you want to experience a place frozen in time, this is the right place! A traditional family guesthouse atmosphere. The campsite is clean, the facilities are old but spotless, the welcome is decent, the pitch is flat, and the price is fair. However, there is a very busy road nearby and the campsite’s streetlights stay on all night. Recommended for a quiet one- or two-night stop. Many hiking trails around.✦Translating

We arrived without a reservation at the beginning of August with a van (€35 for one vehicle and two people). Close to Lake Como and Bergamo. Clean sanitary block. The owners don’t speak English very well but are friendly. Overall, quite a picturesque experience (you have to see all their holiday photos in the restaurant!).✦Translating
