2 Juha Vainion katu, 48100, Kotka
Been here?
This is a free parking area beside Kotka harbour, near Katariina Park and Maretarium. Many car spaces are available, but no motorhome spaces were seen; weekday parking on car spaces appears tolerated. The marina, restaurants, and cafés are across the road, while parks and the city centre are within walking distance. Harbour activity, road traffic, and nearby industrial operations can make nights noisy.

There are many car parking spaces. We did not see any motorhome spaces. During the week there was little activity at the harbor, and parking in the car spaces was apparently tolerated.
A lovely marina across the road with several restaurants/cafe. a place to enjoy a summer's night overlooking the harbour. We had lunch before moving on but imagine that this would be a good overnight option if you like watching the summer sun go down from a bar/cafe setting
Two stars for the location. Three deductions for the following: 1) The spaces are beneath linden trees, so the roof and other parts of the vehicle became covered in sticky residue. 2) A tractor moved a pile of wood chips behind the fence all night. It was extremely noisy. 3) Traffic was occasionally heavy on Junnu Vainion Street, disturbing our sleep.
It is a parking area next to the marina, but the size of the parking area makes it more suitable for motorhomes around 6.5 m. Parallel to the parking area is a huge wood-chip storage area, perhaps for district heating, where vehicles operate around the clock. Otherwise, the site is centrally located with a pretty view of the harbor area. However, it is closed during the last half of July because of festivities.
You can also park directly at the marina and in front of the aquarium. It is very quiet here at night and there is a beautiful view of the water. Somewhat uneven. Parks, the town center, and other places are easily reachable on foot. Toilets are available during aquarium opening hours for €1.
We slept wonderfully peacefully and undisturbed overnight at the edge of the marina.
