This rudimentary stadium parking area near Makrinitsa is loosely paved, quiet, and offers a bird’s-eye view of Volos. Access is via a very narrow uphill road. The road opposite the Portaria cemetery is recommended instead of the route past the Escape Hotel. Weekends can be very busy in the surrounding villages.

Nice place to spend the night, with a great view! Google Maps took me past the Escape Hotel, which means you have to take a narrow road up the hill. It's better to take the road down across from the Portaria cemetery. There are also signs nearby that show you the walking track up to Portaria (700m) and down to Stagientes (1150m). Lovely walks after a quiet night camping
Sure it's great but don't try in the snow and/or the weekends. This village and neighbouring Portaria are where the locals dress up and go at the weekends to eat, drink, meet friends and take lots of selfies. Very busy with many tourist shops, hotels and tavernas Friendly local cats and dogs.
Nothing special, but quieter than the other two places on this side of Portaria. Last night, two dogs inside the tennis court fence barked as they tried to defend their territory. After ten minutes they calmed down, and it was quiet all night.
