Unnamed Road, 67041, Celano
Been here?
Uneven hiking parking beside the Celano Gorge, suitable for one quiet night. The access road is narrow concrete with potholes and few passing places. A camper 6.75 m long, 2.35 m wide and 3.20 m high had no access problems, while the parking area is rarely level and sees some morning activity.

We spent one night at this spot and visited the gorges in the morning. The car park is not level but acceptable overall. A couple of cars arrived during the night, but nothing serious. Our motorhome is 6.75 m long, 2.35 m wide and 3.20 m high; access was no problem, but fortunately we did not meet any other vehicles, otherwise it could have been an issue…
With our height of 3.45 m and width of 2.35 m, getting past the thick branches and staying on the asphalt was a matter of centimetres. We still got scratches. There are only two places on the access road where you can reasonably pull over. Even now in the off-season, it is busy here at weekends, and you should pay attention to the hiking time-slot schedule.
Fine as a car park for the gorges; few level spaces. We had lunch, but it did not inspire us to spend the rest of the day there or stay overnight. The road is narrow but not as dramatic as others describe, even with fairly large motorhomes. Especially in the low season, it is difficult to meet anyone, and there are still a few small lay-bys where you can pull over.
Good and legal place for one night. The road is concrete, not gravel, but really narrow and with few passing places.
Narrow road to get there, car park fairly steep. Quiet night and beautiful surroundings. Parking for the Celano gorges, with several possible routes.
Quiet and free spot. The road is concrete and easy to access for medium-sized or small vehicles. Around 7 a.m. there is some activity because this is the access point for the Gorges trail.
The place is beautiful and really worth visiting, but the parking is awkward and the access road is single-lane; meeting an oncoming vehicle is a problem.
Perfect for visiting the Gorges or walking to Aielli. Quiet spot. The only activity is a few couples in the evening. Unfortunately, phone reception is very poor. Easy access with a 5.40 m van. A pizzeria, closed on Mondays, is a 5-minute walk away.
Magnificent! Easy access for a 7 m motorhome, including an A-class, but the turnaround is steep... Arrive in the evening when there are no hikers.
Once you arrive, the place is quite nice because it is in nature and at the entrance to the gorges, but there is little flat space. The final 5–6 minutes of the road are not very suitable for motorhomes: narrow, rough, and two-way. We have a 6 m van and had difficulty; with a motorhome it would probably be worse. Passing another vehicle in the opposite direction is dangerous.
Very quiet place to spend the night surrounded by nature. Hikers arrive in the morning.
