Quiet, flat gravel parking spot above Airolo on the old Gotthard Tremola road, with a fine view over the valley and Alps. It's free, unofficial and unserviced (no toilets, no bins), popular for a peaceful overnight stay with room for a few campers. Cow bells can be noisy at night, and the narrow old-pass access has some tight, cobbled hairpins. Access may occasionally be blocked by roadworks or military/local activities, and ticks are common in the grass.

Quiet and a superb view of the valley. The farmer visited in the morning without any particular problem. A little traffic due to the army being present in the area, but overall it is a beautiful spot.
Looks like a great spot! We passed by today (14.08.2025) but it was closed due to activities taking place. Just a heads-up for anyone planning to visit.
Well located, but currently prohibited due to construction work.
Beautiful spot! Views of the mountains and down into the town. We stayed overnight and had no problems, one other camper here too. No problems from the cows, they were mostly up the hillside. BUT THE TICKS! This place is basically infested with ticks, so check your dogs over after being outside because every time we walked, I pulled about 10 from her fur!
Very beautiful spot, not many cars at that time of the year. But we had problems to handle the noise from the cows’ bell … they spent the night very close to us and it was actually pretty annoying. (Didn’t thought to say that, because I read the comment before, but I didn’t expected them that close ). Still a beautiful spot, just be ready for some music all night! :)
A beautiful area on an unpaved road at about 1,500 metres, with a magnificent view. You reach it by climbing several hairpin bends on the old Tremola pass, which can be narrow and partly cobbled. We encountered roadworks at the penultimate bend before the parking area, narrowing the road. No services. Space for three or four motorhomes. Very peaceful night and little traffic.

Best night so far in Switzerland. A little traffic in the evening and morning, but otherwise quiet. Very beautiful view of Airolo. Three vehicles spent the night here. The cowbells did not bother us.
The best spot I have ever slept at! :) Starry sky, cowbells at a moderate volume, darkness, no busy road nearby, just pure nature. Simply perfect. The lack of toilets is worth it anyway. I would stay overnight here again anytime, and the view in the morning is incredible. :)

Very nice place! We spent one night there and there was another camper besides us. The view is fantastic and the road is fine. Highly recommended. :)
The location is extraordinary, quiet and relaxing. On sunny days it is even more scenic. I spent two nights without any problems or noise, except when the cows came to say hello. I highly recommend it.
Perfect for an overnight stay before or after crossing the Gotthard. Occasional traffic until around 10 p.m., then quiet.

Wonderful in terms of the pitch. Unfortunately, there are white, papery deposits here too. I ignored them and completely enjoyed the evening, night and morning.
