Been here?
A free lakeside area with six official motorhome pitches and peaceful nights, although families use the beach during the day. Toilets, showers, a restaurant and takeaway service are listed, while grey-water and toilet disposal are available; some recent visits found the sanitary facilities closed and no water. The six spaces are highly sought-after and may be occupied early in the day. Overnight parking outside the official area is not permitted and may be enforced by police.

This is a very popular place, so it is unlikely that you will find a spot during the season. We got one, but we were there at 8 a.m. Overnighting in front of the site is not allowed and is enforced by the police.
Nice spot with all the necessary facilities. Quiet at night, with families on the beach during the day.
Actually a beautiful little place. Unfortunately, there was no space left for us because of long-term campers. We parked at the entrance on the roadside, outside the actual parking area. The police came and warned us that we would be fined if we stayed overnight. Unfortunately, we forgot to tell the police that they should record the long-term campers by their license plates.
Very nice place, but unfortunately the motorhomes have taken up two spaces each. Not cool—what kind of attitude is that? Some have been camping there for quite a while.
We arrived late and all the motorhomes had taken the parking spaces. Vans were then parked along the road, so we left.
All the listed services were working. Unfortunately, there are only six spaces, which were occupied. Other campers park in the car park, although I do not know whether this is allowed. Good lake views and a restaurant right next door.
Even in bad weather, we enjoyed the wonderful view over the lake. We ate very well at the restaurant, which was busy in the evening. It was a shame that the sanitary facilities could not be used because everything was locked.
Beautiful place, unfortunately there are only six spaces and parking beyond them is prohibited. We left because the bathrooms were closed; there is only black- and grey-water disposal, no water.
As always with free places, there are some long-term campers. There was brown waste on the ground-drain grate—disgusting. It is puzzling why there is a disposal point but no water. The toilets are currently open only on weekends. In the evenings there were drinking and noisy youths. However, there are fantastic cycle paths in every direction.
The place is still pleasant, but we moved on. The six official spaces were occupied and three motorhomes were parked on the access road.
We managed to get the last space and had a quiet night.
great place! close to Groningen city. there are only 6 places to park the van. it's flat and next to a lake
Beautiful view of the lake. Toilets closed because it is winter. Good place, but somewhat muddy.
Unfortunately, the pitch was already occupied, but it looked very beautiful. And it is free! Right by the lake.
Easy to access with an 8.6-meter vehicle. Quite muddy when it rains. Short walks with the dog are fine. To get down to the harbor, however, you have to share the roadside path with countless bicycles and mopeds. Not pleasant. Fine for one night.
Great parking lot, 11 minutes from the city center. It is important to use only the designated spaces directly by the lake. Parking in the front lot is not permitted. I just spoke with the municipal enforcement officer because someone received a ticket. He said it costs €120.
Nice place to stay. Unfortunately, the water is already inaccessible. All the toilets are also closed. Emptying the toilet cassette was possible, fortunately. We will probably come back again.
Very nice pitch for six motorhomes, with a view of the lake and access to the well-maintained beach. Other motorhomes stayed overnight in the parking lot. This is probably possible in the off-season. Grey- and black-water disposal is available.
Great place. Unfortunately, ten motorhome owners think they can stay overnight along the access road and in the general parking lot outside the six designated spaces. It is also unfortunate that one motorhome is practically permanent. These people ruin it for others, and this free facility will probably be closed soon.
Beautiful place. The only downside is that the toilets and showers are not open at the end of August.
Beautiful location by the lake with spacious pitches. It is a shame there are only six; everyone deserves this! And it is free as well!
Yes, a very beautiful place. Unfortunately, many people use the grey-water drain to dispose of their toilet waste. So it is no wonder that many of these places are being closed. I added a photo showing the problem at the parking lot 300 meters away; it was not possible to take one here.
Arrived at 11:30 and all spaces were full. Motorhomes were waiting. Free parking does not work in the Netherlands. People on a limited budget are disadvantaged compared with large motorhomes that can afford paid sites. Limit stays to 24 or 48 hours, because it was clearly visible that some people had been there for more than a week.
Very beautiful and quiet by the lake. Unfortunately, there are blue-green algae here in summer, as indicated on the signs.
This is the kind of place there should be many more of! We hope it can continue for a long time. Thanks to the municipality for making this possible! Frans and Marita.
Second visit. Wonderful place with a beautiful view. Next to the pavilion. The six spaces are almost always full. At night there are many vagrants and drug users. The toilets are locked at night.
Super motorhome site—if you can get a space. Only six designated spaces are available. It is apparently strictly forbidden to stay in the adjacent parking lot; our neighbor had to pay a €150 fine. Parking on the roadside directly in front of the motorhome site seems to be tolerated; we stood there with several other campers.
Lucky us, there is never any space here, but today there was. You have a beautiful view over the lake. Very quiet despite the summer day, probably because swimming was prohibited due to blue-green algae.
We were lucky to get one of the six spaces. We had three lovely days and cycled from there to Groningen. We could swim in the lake, and the toilets were open at the weekend. We were also able to refill our water using a watering can. Thank you, we really enjoyed it.
Beautiful place. It is a shame that some people give one star just because all six spaces are occupied; that is a bit strange.
You can easily stay here for one night. Beautiful little place!
Nice view. The toilets seem to be closed all the time. Free parking lot and free motorhome parking. No shade in the parking lot.
Very nice motorhome site! However, it is also very popular. By midday most people had left, so it was easy to get a space. In the evening there were no spaces left. Campers were also parked in the car park; I do not know whether there were consequences. According to other campers, parking on the roadside does not seem to be enforced. The toilets were locked.
