Port Lane, WV9 5BH, Wolverhampton
Been here?
This is a small, unrestricted car park with room for about 8 cars, picnic tables and a litter bin, but no services. Overnight stays are generally unproblematic, although road noise is the main issue and the road is busy during daytime. It becomes quieter late in the evening, with walks nearby and a narrow access route that may be awkward.

Anywhere else in Europe it would be 3 stars but overnight stops are so hard to find in the UK that I give it 4. The road noise is the main issue.
Great park up, very, very quiet and dark. I was all alone until the dog walkers in the morning (at 9:30-10am). One of the access “cut throughs” take you down a narrow lane, taking a longer route might be easier? There was a bench but it was overgrown with stinging nettles and the bin was full, but still there. Cars pass infrequently after 9pm. Phone signal wasn’t so good for me- 1 bar.
Good stopover. There was road noise, but it wasn’t excessive.
Stopover that feels safe.
Good for staying self-sufficient, but there is more road noise than expected. It is relatively quiet at night. The road was very busy during the morning rush hour.
Two cars pulled in after I got here after 7:30pm i on a Thursday night. One had a woman in it so I didn’t feel alarmed. Nonetheless, I locked my doors. So far, all quiet. Road noise but nothing too loud. I expect it will get quieter after 9/10-ish.
Despite trying the postcode and both types of lat/long locations, plus ‘Chillington Hall’ (from one of the comments), I have not been able to find the place.
This is not a bad spot if you’re in a jam, and it’s quite close to the motorway if in transit. The road is pretty busy until late at night but this didn’t bother us. A couple of cars turned up around midnight but took no notice of us and vice versa. Lovely walks along the canal nearby and decent network signal.
Nice place, the main road is a little noisy until dark and then in the morning but not overwhelming. Was the only car, no dog walkers so had a peaceful morning! There’s a slightly overgrown walk in the corner, picnic benches are a little overgrown now too.
Nice place to stay, but be careful with large vans or caravans; there isn’t enough space.
