32 Rua Apolinário da Fonseca, 4930-706, Valença
Been here?
Parking for buses, motorhomes and campers beside the Fortress wall, 500 m from town. Nights are dark and very quiet, while daytime can become busy and fill with cars. The ground is flat but can quickly become muddy in rain, making departure difficult. No services or nearby bins are available, although a container stands at the entrance.

Satisfactory for visiting the fortress, but be careful in rainy weather, as it can quickly become a muddy quagmire and make it difficult to leave.
I was the only camper there in April, most others seemed to prefer the other nearby area close to the walls. Quite flat here, dark and quiet at night. Didn't fill up at all in daytime when I was there. It's quite unique to park so close to historical old walls, and it's nice to wander the streets above and walk the ramparts. I would return here for sure.
Fantastic first stop in Portugal. I got there before it started getting full and parked early. The fort is a great place to walk and see the views. Thank you for allowing us to stay.
Excellent parking area for a visit. I did not stay overnight, only parked to visit the area. It was easy and there was plenty of space.
Quiet place to spend the night, next to the fortress, with plenty of activity and interesting shops.
I stayed 2 nights here. At night is very quiet, but very busy during the day, specially weekends. The parking spaces fill-up quick with cars. As previous reviewers have mentioned, I saw the folks helping people park and then asking for money, but they didn't bother me and left me alone. Maybe they focus on cars only. The ground is light gravel and mostly levelled. Few light posts so dark at night
Super-central spot directly beside the old town wall. There were no prohibition signs, so we spent the night here alone without any problems. We had first tried the officially designated motorhome area, but it did not really suit us and is considerably farther from the centre.
Great spot to park for the night, amazingly quiet, with no noise or traffic. Perfect.
I've never had such a peaceful night. The ground is packed earth, and there was only one other camper with us. The area is lit, but not disturbingly so. The town is splendid! There are bars and little restaurants inside.
An extremely peaceful night; there were only two vehicles. (23/09) There are no services or bins nearby, but there is a container at the entrance to the parking area. A little dirty because of people who throw rubbish around.
Good area beside the wall, with a supermarket that opens at 8 a.m. five minutes away. No noise and no charge.
We slept peacefully, with only a couple of vans. Recommended; we had no problems at all.
I don't give it five stars because there are no services, but the place is large and you sleep perfectly well. It is nicely level. Very windy, but that is not the site's fault. Ideal for visiting the walled city and the rest.
