Pré du Pont, 1946, Bourg-Saint-Pierre
Been here?
A beautiful, flat clearing above the Toules dam near Bourg-Saint-Pierre, reached by a steep, stony 2km gravel track that most campers and vans handle fine. Free, unofficial spot with no services and no bins - pack out your rubbish. Quiet but often crowded in summer (up to 15 vehicles), with a cash-only snack van/food truck sometimes on site. Cows, marmots and hikers pass through; a road is faintly audible. Access has occasionally been blocked by cattle or closures.

Can we still call this a nature spot? Last night, July 18, 2026, there were 15 vans and motorhomes. A little more tightly packed than at a campsite. If we Park4Night users do not start spreading out better, we are heading toward a general ban in one of the last valleys that still tolerates our activity. P.S. When we arrived there were five, which was manageable, but 15?
Very nice spot on the shore of Lac des Toules. Relatively flat ground. Snack bar a few meters away. Access is feasible with a front-wheel-drive van.
Great place! Thanks to the municipality or the landowner for making such a place available. Please keep the site clean and take your rubbish with you.
Great spot! We arrived in the night, but when you wake up in the morning it’s really magical. There were some others vans and campers but its clean and safe. Great starting point for hikers.
Beautiful place. No problem for our 7-meter-long and 3-meter-high alcove motorhome. No facilities. Alpine marmots in the mountain meadows.
In one word: beautiful! A 4x4 is really not necessary. We drove up effortlessly with a 7-meter motorhome.
Superb place, very quiet and surrounded by nature.
Superb, peaceful place. The pitches are flat. Access from the foot of the dam is somewhat rough because it is unpaved. All vehicle sizes are fine, but vehicles over 3.5 tons have been prohibited since the national road leading to the tunnel and pass.
Superb place between the lake and the magnificent cows. Flat parking. Be careful: the access road is rocky and winding, but easily manageable with a 6-meter vehicle. No composting facilities or garbage bins. There is a small café-restaurant, but it was closed when we were there.
Quiet, idyllically situated parking area above the reservoir. Somewhat heavily frequented and exposed to the wind.
Lovely spot by the water; the dam is very impressive! Flat ground with around ten spaces available.
Good location and beautiful view of the lake! Relatively cool even in midsummer, but accessible only via a gravel road. A waterfall opposite is also relatively loud; otherwise quiet.
Very beautiful spot! Quiet… but one drawback: if you have a large motorhome, the dirt road is quite steep. We managed it with a 6.60-meter vehicle; anything larger may be complicated.
I would not be objective, since a friend runs the snack bar. Magnificent, peaceful place with a little breeze at all times. On the hiking trail leading to Rome. I am currently here.
Nature lovers, this is for you. We loved the place! I recommend it.
Inaccessible: the three places around Lac/Barrage des Toules. Road closed, pasture, cows.
The access road is a little rough, but the view is indeed nice. Very quiet. We ate here before continuing our journey. There is a restaurant on site, closed that day.
