Been here?
Well-kept lakeside campsite at Lago Maggiore with direct lake access, a small beach and lawns with some shaded pitches. Facilities are consistently praised as spotless and modern, with a restaurant and small shop selling fresh bread. Pricing is high by camping standards but usually includes a free regional bus/boat ticket. Reception is friendly and lets you pick your own pitch, especially off-season. The nearby road, boats and occasional helicopter traffic can make it noisy, and it gets busy and pricier in high season.

Spacious, brand-new buildings where you can shower, use the toilet and wash dishes, even with a dishwasher. Beautiful views over the water. Lots to do nearby, with plenty of tips from reception. A somewhat busier family campsite, but everything is close by and wonderful.
Very nice camping to stay right at the lake. Incredible bathroom facilities (the newer building) and kind reception. We came without reservation and they let us choose our own pitch. On the negative, not all pitches are properly shades so, better to come in the morning
The price level is unusual for us travelers from Germany. But since everything else is absolutely top-notch, there is no reason to deduct a point. And who has ever done the dishes so lavishly, with a view of the lake? Excellent.
Fair price, very clean sanitary facilities, well-maintained green grounds with many trees, pleasant atmosphere—at least in the shoulder season; we don't know what it is like in peak season. Appealing restaurant.
Excellent, beautiful site directly on the lake. In the low season, CHF 30 in the second row plus CHF 8 per person. The sanitary facilities are cleaned continuously throughout the day. The Ticino Ticket is included, meaning free public transport throughout Ticino. That definitely justifies the price. Close to the Verzasca and Maggia valleys; cycling directly along the lake to Ascona and beyond is possible.
Great, clean campsite directly on the lake. I have rarely seen such modern, timeless and exceptionally clean sanitary facilities. Very peaceful atmosphere!
Incredibly beautiful site. Very friendly staff. The sanitary building is 10/10! We would gladly return.
Definitely five stars—we can say that every time. Friendly staff :) Shop with everything you might need at short notice! And not to forget the wonderful, comfortable and always-clean sanitary buildings.
Really excellent, nice staff, great showers, access to the lake, level grassy grounds, very spacious.
I wonder why there are always campers who rate a place with only one star in cases like this—an expensive overnight stay for one night—or in other cases, such as more expensive pizza or poor Wi-Fi. You do look up beforehand how much the respective places cost, don't you? We always enjoy coming to Lido Mappo, and yes, quality costs money!
Well equipped camping. Full campers' services possible. We paid 06/08/2025 for 7,5m camper, 5 people (2 adults and 3 children) price 117 CHF/night, perhaps due to Locarno Film Festival. Very similar price on other Tenero's campings. Price includes free return transport to Locarno/Ascona by bus and to Locarno by boat!
We wanted to stop here on our route to Italy. The price knocked us off our feet; we would never be willing to pay that much for one night! CHF 75 for a few hours' sleep. We drove on and spent a quiet night in a lakeside parking area, 10 hours for CHF 5.
Beautiful site with its own beach, great views, and excellent toilet buildings. The new one is outstanding, with rental toilets. Pitches by the beach are more expensive, but the view is also great. Close to Locarno and easy to reach by bike. I will return.
Everything is great and leaves nothing to be desired. But it comes at a price.
One of the most beautiful sites we have visited in our now 10-year motorhome life—and certainly the most expensive. We stayed on premium pitches directly by the lake with water supply and waste disposal. The view across the lake to the snow-covered mountains was dreamlike. Free bus tickets for trips to Locarno and even Lugano were included in the price. Sanitary facilities truly top-notch!
Great campsite directly on the lake. Very clean, and the reception staff were very friendly. But it is also very expensive. Electricity, showers, etc. are included. Excellent sanitary facilities. Apart from the price, the only nuisance is the genuinely noisy road.
Great medium-sized campsite. Very clean sanitary facilities, one of them quite new, with many new showers and toilets; cleaned several times a day. No direct separation between pitches, but they are large enough. Very tasty restaurant on site and a small shop. Very friendly and helpful reception. In the low season we paid CHF 37 for the camper plus CHF 10 per person per night.
Lido Mappo offers everything campers could wish for. Everything is excellent: location, pitches, sandy beach, restaurant and sanitary facilities. Good value for money. And a tip: exit the campsite, turn right at the roundabout, then left after 50 m—the world's best gelato.
Very well-maintained site. Modern washhouse and friendly staff. Free tickets for the ferry to Locarno. From there, a trip to Ascona is a must. A place to relax.
Campsite with very high standards. The sanitary facilities are at a “like home” level. The restaurant is highly recommended. Many guests come from outside. The pitches are arranged somewhat haphazardly. It is worth choosing your pitch carefully.
Site directly on Lake Maggiore with a gently sloping beach into the lake. The lady at reception was very nice. Excellent new, architecturally appealing sanitary building. Always clean. Large shower cubicles. The restaurant serves very good food. Small, well-stocked supermarket, with fresh baked goods in the morning.
Beautiful spot, right on the lake with its own publicly accessible little beach. The pitch is quite expensive—almost €40 for one camper and one person—but that's Switzerland, I guess. Fine for one night, but I probably wouldn't return very soon because of the price and the size; I prefer smaller campsites. Still, because of all the good, clean facilities and the beautiful lakeside location, four stars.
Very beautiful pitch directly on the lake, CHF 68 right by the lake—not a bargain, but the campsite is excellent and worth the money. The sanitary building is simply amazing: completely new, high-quality and state-of-the-art. The staff were very friendly. It couldn't be better.
Second to none. Everything is right; we would come back anytime. The beach is a dream! We were only “unlucky” that on the day we were there, the entire lawn was mowed and all the hedges were trimmed, which was quite noisy. But that is also why the site is so beautiful :)
Friendly welcome. Free choice of pitch. Well-stocked shop for groceries. Very well-maintained site with beautiful trees and excellent, partly new sanitary facilities (soap and toilet paper provided!), even with a baby-washing area. Everything is very expensive at around €50 per night in early season, but highly recommended! Local public transport to Locarno by bus and boat is included.
