Been here?
This is a central parking area opposite the new cathedral, with no camper services and mixed parking alongside cars. It is free at night and on Sundays, while weekday daytime parking costs between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. The asphalt surface is large but slightly sloping, and the area can be noisy from traffic and a current construction site. Shops, the cathedral, a playground and swimming pool are within walking distance.

We were here on a Sunday and could park for free. You park together with cars, preferably with the rear facing the meadow. The church is right next door (admission 70 NOK or 130 NOK). A playground and swimming pool are also just a few meters away. There is currently construction work. We did not sleep here; there are better overnight spots in the area.
Very convenient parking in the center, close to the cathedral, shopping center, and two supermarkets. We slept very well without any noise. Not completely level, but manageable. Payment is made via the EasyPark app.
Not entirely quiet and not completely level. There is currently construction work causing noise. The parking area is designated for motorhomes, but there are no corresponding spaces. You park mixed with cars in car spaces. Most people park with the rear toward the meadow.
Relatively level, paved, large parking area, slightly sloping. Despite the central location, it was relatively quiet at night. It became somewhat noisier from 7:00 a.m. as commuter traffic increased, but that is to be expected in this location. Parking on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. costs 35 NOK per hour; free at night and on Sundays.
We spent one night there, February 26–27. With a rooftop tent, auxiliary heater, and dog, there was no problem. Free at night and relatively quiet despite the city location.
Not completely quiet, but centrally located for visiting the cathedral or shopping, with everything within walking distance. Free from Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.
Good for visiting the swimming pool. Overnight stays are not allowed.
Sloping parking area, convenient in case of snow because it is cleared frequently (November 2025, temperature −8°C). Paid during the day without services, free at night and on Sundays. Very bright, not suitable for stargazing. Nothing special to visit nearby; okay as a stop on the way to the North Cape!
Free at night until 10 a.m., not far from the town center but noisy.
Free parking after 8 p.m. Right next to the cathedral and main street. No services and very crowded, with narrow spaces. At 10 p.m. we found the only available space. Lots of motorhomes, but also many cars. There is a rubbish bin next to the cathedral. Still, it was quiet.
Convenient for stopping for one night. No charge from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. or on Sundays. There are many cars among the motorhomes. There are dog bowls among the trees!
Okay, but too loud due to the nearby main road; free for overnight stays.
Ideal for visiting the cathedral. However, the cost is too high for us to stay here during the day. At night it would at least be free. For us, it was too noisy between the hotels and the main road.
Very good; we spent one night.
Not very level. Previous comments are quite contradictory about the toll. Payment terminal instructions: “Paid Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Paid Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.” So free on Sunday! Nearby road is fairly noisy.
Noisy. We stayed overnight. No services.
Stayed here for 4 hours to visit the beautiful cathedral, had a nice Pizza from Peppes around the corner, decided after this time we had heard enough of the boom boom from cars on the main road close by, so moved on. Paid just over £6 upto 6pm on a Saturday then Sunday would have been free. Found a quiet place on a forest park up 15 mins away
Large parking area that allows visits to the cathedral; snow is cleared.
Great location opposite the cathedral. Lots of room. We only paid just over £6 for 3 hours parking as only have to pay up until 6pm on Saturdays & Sundays are free.
40 NOK per hour, too expensive, especially in winter.
Good for overnight stays. Within walking distance of the Northern Lights Cathedral. Immediately beside a road, so expect some noise. From Sunday until Monday at 10 a.m., the parking area is free.
Completely fine and quiet for one night! We spent one night here in October 2024.
Parking is paid during the day and free from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. It is paved, and the motorhome section is slightly sloped. It is also used by cars, with movement until around 9 p.m.; after that it is very quiet, and even the E6 behind it is not excessively noisy. Bins are nearby; no services. A good solution for one night.
Noisy, expensive, sloping, and without services. Cars also park in the same place. Not recommended for sleeping, only for visiting, although there is little to see. The only good thing is that it is next to the cathedral.
