Highway rest-stop pull-off near Airolo, on a forest side lane behind the Gottardo area beside the Ticino river. Flat, shaded ground under trees just off the road, with autobahn noise audible but muted. Nearby restaurant and shop staff are friendly. Generally a quiet, peaceful overnight stop, though a couple of travellers found it a bit noisy from passing traffic. Note: rejoining the motorway may require a toll ticket normally issued on-site - make sure you get one on arrival.

We had a peaceful night. Yes, it is next to the highway, but it is a good stop. The restaurant and shop staff were really friendly.
A trap. We arrived at 4 a.m. during the August 15 holiday weekend and slept there for a few hours. The next day, it was impossible to re-enter the motorway: a guard in orange prevented us from accessing the motorway and tunnel because we supposedly needed a ticket distributed at the service area. Nobody gave us a ticket, so we had to go over the pass.
Good for one night’s rest on the way north. A bit noisy but reasonable.
Motorway parking area, with some noise from cars and trucks, but if you park behind the building it is barely audible. Quiet night.
