Official motorhome area in a quiet natural setting beside a river, with marked motorhome and tent areas. It is free and offers seating, picnic tables, grills, a clean dry toilet, waste disposal and a playground. The site is reached by an off-road section, with the final 3 km reported as corrugated, and a swimming area is nearby.

Extraordinary view at the end of a valley and a quiet place beside a river with picnic tables and a composting toilet.
Best place on our trip: quiet, legal, and lots of space. Tent and motorhome areas are marked.
A huge thank-you to the municipality for this wonderful place! The toilet is very clean, there are several benches at the site and by the water, and a waste station is also available. Everything is free. It is not a particularly special place, but very quiet in nature—perfect for switching off and enjoying yourself. The road was probably newly graveled, with no potholes. For hikes, simply walk along the road to the right or left; many hikes lead up the mountain.
A little off the beaten track, but very quiet, especially now at the end of April/beginning of May. We were the only ones here. There are seats and a grill. The composting toilet was well equipped and clean!
Very beautiful, spacious, and quiet place; it is worth driving 3 km along the corrugated track!
Beautiful place with many tables and benches. Considering it is a pit toilet, it was clean and the smell was acceptable. Better bring your own toilet paper. Unfortunately, I could not find the start of the hiking trail. There is a playground that is really an adventure playground, with a covered picnic table.
My second visit here, and still very pleasant. Out of the way, so little traffic; I was alone here and heard only the sounds of nature. Beach 50 m away. You have to take a detour—the last 3 km are corrugated track—but it is worth it! Exactly the kind of place I hoped to find in Norway! Excellent!
There is a festival in this spot every first weekend of August called Austerfjordtreffet. There are concerts, car exhibitions (old, new, sports, military cars), marked, flee marked. Well worth a visit! Info can be found on web
The best campsite of my life. Off the road in the middle of nature. There are two benches at the top of the site and, further down by the water, a barbecue area with firewood and another bench. You can eat right beside the water. There are also three toilets, and a small stream provides fresh water.
Good and quiet spot. The only sound you hear is the water pouring down the mountains. An adventure playground in the forest, lots of picnictables and possibility to take a bath. The toilet is ok.
Beautiful, quiet place. There are areas for tents and motorhomes. When we arrived, we were alone, so we parked on the hill designated for tents. The toilet serves its purpose. Many barbecue spots and a great outdoor playground.
Superb campsite directly on the fjord with a great view and a clean composting separation toilet. We were alone when we arrived; a few more campers came later, but it was generally very quiet and surrounded by nature.
Quiet, remote campsite. Despite its remote location, it was well attended in summer 2024. Opposite is a lovely small adventure playground for children in the forest.
We were here for one night on August 19. The gravel area at the front is not very nice, but the area to the right is beautiful. However, it is designated as a tent site. Otherwise, it is great as described. Since we were alone, it was not a problem.
A great wild-camping spot! This area is much less touristy than Senja or the Vesterålen islands. Very enjoyable. At the head of the fjord, with mountains behind, a beach, and a fantastic adventure playground in the forest! We were there on July 19 and were the only two vehicles overnight. Very clean composting toilet and rubbish container. Thank you to the municipality for providing such a place.
Very quiet place with everything you need. A festival takes place here every first weekend of August.
Nice and quiet spot. The toilet is reasonably clean. Be prepared for some mosquitoes, but they are not too bad.
Great spot, amazing views. Plenty of room for big rigs. Restroom and some picnic tables. No traffic.
