12230, La Couvertoirade
Been here?
A large pine-forest area with several parking spaces and generally easy access, offering shade. Recent reports strongly discourage overnight stays because vehicles and people may approach, observe or block campers. A major photovoltaic-park construction site is now nearby, and the area has also been reported very dirty. Take care with overhangs and use the second dirt track where possible.

We had a very pleasant lunch break under the trees, but we would not have spent the night there, as it is probably a meeting place. Be careful with overhangs; it is better to use the second dirt track. And of course, take your rubbish with you!
Okay for a stopover, but I think it is a meeting place for gay men. So do not be afraid; they only want to see whether you are interested too.
I found this place to stop for an afternoon. I do not recommend it: one man arrived, drove around the van, and left. Then he returned 15 minutes later. Another arrived by car, clearly drove around the van, and positioned himself behind a hedge to watch me while I was reading. I packed everything up and left. He did not leave me alone the whole time.
I strongly advise against it. A man walked past looking through my windows while I was cooking. I confronted him, and he said he was just passing through. He drove away, then returned 30 minutes later and blocked one of the exits. Five minutes later, another car circled me, watched me, and left. I did not stay.
Very beautiful pine forest. There is now a major construction site right next to it: construction of the Couvertoirade photovoltaic park.
Very good for stopping overnight. Shaded.
Quiet place with a slight background noise from the motorway.
