Been here?
Helset Camping is a meadow beside Lovatnet, with level pitches and spectacular views of the turquoise lake and surrounding mountains. The sanitary facilities are clean and sufficient, while a rowboat, SUPs and a sauna can be rented. Two people in a camper paid 450 NOK with electricity, and the site can become very busy in high season.

Beautiful campsite directly by the lake. There are enough clean sanitary facilities, and all the pitches are level. Highly recommended!
Very nice campsite. Set farther back, it offers incredible views. Peace and quiet. A stream flows into the lake, where the children spent several hours building a dam out of stones. There is a playground. Clean, well-maintained sanitary facilities. It is worth writing to the owner before arriving to ask about availability. We arrived when the weather was good, so it was difficult, but the next day it was empty because it rained.
Simply a wonderful place: the location and panorama could not be more beautiful. Small site where you can rent boats, SUPs, and even a sauna. 450 NOK with electricity for two people in a camper. Sanitary facilities are okay. The operators are nice and helpful.
Superb campsite in the middle of nature... All pitches have a magnificent view of the turquoise-blue lake. All amenities for camper vans are available. The most beautiful campsite of our trip. At the moment, you need to arrive just before noon to get a place!
Very helpful and committed operators. The site is run by a married couple who are both teachers. Outside the holiday season, they want to introduce online check-in. The sanitary building is to be renovated; they have put up a container with three showers for this purpose. Rowing boats and SUPs for rent. One washing machine and one dryer. The location and terraced pitches are top-notch.
We love this place. Second time here. Breathtaking view, spacious, clean facilities and beautiful turquoise water.
Fantastic place to stay after a couple of days freecamping! Absolutely stunning scenery with the majestic mountains, turquoise water and fresh air. Great flat spots to set up whatever you are coming with, rooftent, campervan or whatever. Superfirendly owner and lots of facilities at a reasonable price. Though it is a narrow road the last bit here. Personally I wouldn’t go here with caravan…
Beautiful place! Good and clean facilities. Hot water showers. Highly recommend!
Good campsite with fantastic views over the lake. Good facilities although stretched at times with size of site. Possible to hire rowing boats and SUP boards for 150 NOK/hour.
Very beautiful location. The pitches are on grass and terraced, so wherever you stand, the view is magnificent. There are several waterfalls directly across from the campsite. Check-in and check-out at 12.
You can tell the season has not started yet, so the site is currently only half full. However, it will definitely be packed in high season. I think you get everything you need here. The owners are super friendly and the prices are completely reasonable.
Incredible view. Peaceful.
The location is breathtaking! The sanitary facilities are okay, though they could have been better maintained. Water and showers are included. The sauna now costs 600 NOK per hour, which is clearly excessive! Overall, a fantastic panorama, though unfortunately there are few hikes or sightseeing opportunities nearby!
A very peaceful campsite in a beautiful setting on the edge of a lake with a view of a glacier. Since the campsite is terraced, everyone can enjoy the view. Clean sanitary facilities. Friendly welcome.
The best campsite nearby! Beautiful pitches with beautiful views. The owner is very friendly and always on site. We enjoyed the sauna and the cold but wonderful lake! We also rented a SUP to take our dog onto the water. There are many picnic tables, barbecues, and more. A truly wonderful place!! We wished we could have stayed longer!
Dreamlike and beautiful—like paradise. At first I was completely alone. I could easily reach the owner by phone. Super friendly! You can pay by card or PayPal. Showers and fishing are included. Everyone catches at least five trout here :) He even turned on the sauna especially for me and charged only 150 NOK. The glaciers are not far away either. 10 out of 5 stars!!!
We found this campsite to be exactly what we wanted. We stayed for three nights with a campervan. It is quiet, fairly priced, with lakeside pitches and excellent views. Contrary to some older reviews, the showers were very good - hot, with good pressure, and no extra charge. There were five toilets available, all very clean and nice. The washing machine and dryer worked well.
Great campsite, unfortunately currently closed!
Nice staff, unfortunately the sauna was fully booked but we already knew that when we arrived at 5 p.m. Unfortunately they had a power outage in the morning. Apart from that, the campsite was nice and pleasant and was located really nicely by the water. We stayed there August 12-13
The campsite is closed. The road leading there is very narrow, and often two cars cannot pass each other. There is also no sign anywhere before the road indicating that the site is closed.
We arrived around 3 p.m., but unfortunately the sauna was already fully booked. We were standing right by the water. The view was very beautiful, but there was less than 1 m of space between us and the other guests.
Fantastic view of Lovatnet. Ideal for paddleboarding on the lake. Peaceful campsite within walking distance of Kjendallstova. Only drawback: hot water was available only sporadically. Not a problem for us, as we could shower in the van. Friendly staff! Arrive early enough; everything fills up fairly quickly here. If there is a full sign, still ask. Sometimes it is still possible!
We highly recommend this site. SUPs are available for rent and fishing is free. Washing machine and dryer available, as well as a barrel sauna directly beside the lake access. Unique panorama, free choice of pitch, friendly and helpful staff!! You absolutely have to come here!!
Even though only cold water was left for us in the shower and dishwashing area, it still gets a clear 5. Incredibly beautiful, with a pitch 1 m from the lake and wonderful swimming water. Very clean toilets and showers.
The campsite is incredibly beautifully located right by Lovatnet. But it fills up quickly. If you want a pitch, you need to arrive well in advance. We arrived at 4 p.m., and all the campsites around Lovatnet were already full.
Campsite very well located with a lake (cold!) at its foot and waterfalls all around. The facilities are basic, but the price is 400 NOK for a camper and two people, plus 50 for electricity. To see the glacier in a breathtaking setting, you will need to take a bicycle (14 km). Narrow access road with passing places. Friendly welcome.
Excellent camping ground right next to the lake. The staff was very accommodating and the facilities are clean. They have SUP, motorboats and rowing boats for rental.
Stunning scenery, but major flaws. This campsite has a magical mountain and lake setting and friendly reception. It's peaceful. However, it's overpriced. Only 2 moldy showers and 5 toilets. Outdoor dishwashing with fluctuating water pressure. The lakeside barrel sauna is useless—no washing water, and the hot water tank doesn't work. Lake is freezing. Only recommended for self-sufficient campers.
What a dream location for a campsite. Indeed, only two showers. No problem. The view is fantastic. The owners are so friendly, helpful, and kind. We are grateful that we were allowed to stay here for two nights.
Very beautiful campsite with an incredible view, especially if you get a pitch down below. Sanitary facilities are very clean. Sauna, washing machine, and dryer available (extra cost).
Positives Very warm welcome from the operators Fantastic view Clean, well-maintained pitch Negatives Sanitary facilities are outdated and partly very cramped, though clean Only two showers, so waiting times are possible Only one outdoor kitchen with cold water—not usable in bad weather The price is too high, however. Overall, we have experienced more beautiful campsites in Norway.
