Free lay-by, quiet overnight

An unsigned lay-by with a decent amount of space away from the road, suitable for a simple overnight stop. It is free, and overnight stays have been trouble-free for some visitors. Traffic can be noticeable, but it reportedly becomes very quiet after about 10pm until around 6am. Other reports describe this road as busy, especially early in the morning.

We stayed overnight here in our motorhome along with a camper van. Had a great nights sleep. Yes there was traffic but after about 10pm it went very quiet until around 6am. It cost us nothing and nobody bothered us so I would recommend it.
Compared to other country laybys, this road is busy and gets particularly busy early on in the morning as it's a fairly big A-road. There's better spots ~30min drive away, but in a pinch it's okay.
Don’t recommend it. We parked here and there were constantly vehicles pulling in fast and stopping. Too busy for a motorhome. A lorry came rushing in; I didn’t think it had seen us, which panicked us, so we moved farther up the road to somewhere different. Too busy, and the road noise was too much.
Thanks for this place. There are otherwise almost no other possibilities here.
