Miltown Malbay Road, Lahinch
Been here?
Parking with a sea view, close to town and the surf, but recent information says it is no longer accessible to vans because of the entrance barrier. Older reports mention a 2m barrier and some evening noise from traffic and visitors.

Great spot to pull up, nice view and easy to walk into town and surf. Unfortunately the fun fair was on though, so it was very loud and busy (but probably to be expected mid-August), so didn’t end up staying overnight as planned.
The parking area is no longer accessible to vans.
My favorite park up in Clare, 2m barrier but a brilliant place to sleep if you can fit. Easy walk to town, great sea view, good surf spot.
Unless your van is 1.90 metres high, forget about getting in here. If it is 2 metres, there is a large parking area 500 metres away at the northern entrance to the village.
Great view and just a few minutes walking distance to town. Level places, lots of space and free. Unfortunately there were cars coming and leaving with partying teenagers until about 23/23.30 (Thursday night). It has its benefits and drawbacks to be so close to the city.
Superb spot for spending the night in a van. It just fits under 2 metres because the barrier is sagging, but if you lift it slightly by hand, it passes easily! Magnificent view over the bay. The only drawback is a light that illuminates the parking area all night.
Best sleeping spot in Ireland so far!
A nice place in itself. Unfortunately, around 2:30 a.m. we were woken by a teenager loudly knocking on our window, allegedly because his phone battery was dead and he needed one of ours. We eventually managed to send him away, but it left us uneasy, so we left the parking area in the middle of the night. That can happen anywhere, though!
Superb sunset! Sea view. Be careful, the barrier sags a little in the middle; we had to lift it manually a little for our 1.90-metre van.
