Barrier open until 7 p.m.
Closed. Impossible to park there. The car park has been closed with barriers.
Dirt parking area between the beach and the pond. A 2-metre barrier at the entrance, accessible to vans and converted vans day and night. Very nice view of the pond and Maguelone Island.
Parked on 23 September: no access problems and free of charge; there were five vans. Level ground and pleasant surroundings (pond with pink flamingos, easy access to the beaches, beautiful sunset over the cathedral). Beware of mosquitoes.
The entire area is chargeable now!!
Free camping here is a thing of the past. Long before the parking area, you are stopped by barriers and a payment point. Welcome to capitalism.
It became paid parking (expensive) from 13 April 2024... money is money.
Pros: Big area to park and quiet, Beachfront is a stones throw away, Free and you won’t be moved on, Good views. Cons: A lot of Mosquitoes, Dogs will get Ticks if you let them in the long grass surrounding the car park (had to remove 8 ticks from our dogs). There is a height barrier at around 2.2m (we just managed to squeeze our VW transporter with roof rack and box through). No facilities nearby
I spent a few nights here in March. Very peaceful. Very beautiful view of the lagoon. The sea is 50 m away. A barrier is currently being welded at the entrance. Height around 2.5 m.
The car park was closed when I passed through, but I slept on the roundabout. Fine for arriving late and leaving early. The gendarmerie came around midnight but did not move the three campers present.
Quiet spot, but there are a huge number of mosquitoes (only a minor detail). Shower and toilet available, free from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Very beautiful and peaceful place. The height restriction mentioned and shown in a previous comment is no longer there, so it is accessible to taller vehicles as well.
I arrived at night; there were many bumps and potholes. The parking entrance is far away on the landward side, and the sea cannot be seen because of the embankment. Fences everywhere guide people in summer. Not a very pleasant atmosphere. Since I was alone, I preferred to look for another, less depressing place, as it is a huge expanse of bare parking ground.
