Been here?
This is an overnight motorhome stop in the Malt Shovel pub’s car park, with 2 gravel pitches suitable for large motorhomes. Staying is free when eating at the pub, which serves homemade pies and other food, and the staff are welcoming. The site is quiet, with only a gentle hum from the nearby dual carriageway. Toilets are available while the pub is open, and there is a children’s play area.

Great food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere; toilets are only available while the pub is open.
Stayed for one night , really welcoming hosts , they’re speciality food wise !, a menu of home made pies , 5 minute drive off the M1 , easy access ( I’m in a 7mtr motorhome)very quiet and peaceful .
Nice polite staff said it was fine to stay if we ate at the pub. There are 2 gravel pitches on the right of the car park. You can hear some road noise, but only a hum from the nearby dual carriageway, we had a peaceful night. The staff said we could come back in and use the toilet before the pub closed. If you don't want to stay at the pub, there is loads of parking on the road which is a dead end.
stayed on Friday night, realy good food and friendly staff. parked in the main car park just at the side of the pub. relatively quiet night considering how close to the M1 it is. would use again if in the area.
We stayed here last night for free, had a fantastic Steak and Ale pie, the staff were very friendly, kids play area outside, two minutes off the M1, couldn't be any better, if we're in the area again we will definitely stop, even if it's just for a meal,
Excellent stop off. Homemade pies. If you like pies this is the place for you. Good gravy. Very good beer selection. And very good value for money. I hope to return as this is first pub that I have said that about on park for night.
excellent for 1 night, happy for you to stay as long as you have food etc, 2 spaces big enough for large motorhome. staff lovely and friendly, dogs welcome and the pies were excellent
A very quiet night spent at the Malt Shovel park up , although we arrived late on Sunday to try out the Sunday lunch we had a few pints in the pub next to the warm gas fire . After making a donation for a charity , because we hadn't eaten , we stayed for a very relaxing night in the pub car park with another camper , having a good night's sleep
Yes, there are only two spaces, and if you don't buy anything it costs £10, but otherwise it's a great place for visiting Leeds. We arrived in the early afternoon, left the motorhome and visited Leeds—20 minutes on foot and 12 minutes by train. We returned in the evening for a hearty dinner of local specialities (pies), followed by a quiet night, even though the road is nearby. In short, we recommend it. More information on our Instagram.
Even if you ring in advance to book one of the two motorhome places you can’t guarantee it will be there when you arrive. Ours wasn’t it had cars parked in it when we arrived so we left and wont be returning. The area for motorhomes is not exclusive and if they’re busy they won’t stop cars parking on there even if you’ve rung to “reserve” a spot. We’ve been before so we were just lucky those times
Stayed here for three nights. Extremely friendly bar staff and you can stay for free if you eat there. What more can you ask for?
We stayed here last night in our Motorhome. It was our first visit and we found out about them through P4N. Rang ahead as only 2 spots for motorhomes. Staff were lovely. Had food in the Pub and consequently stay was free (thank you). Food was amazing. Kids rated it a 9/10 because it took a while to come but worth the wait. No hook up. Kids play area. Could do more gravel on ground as very muddy.
Fantastic pub, very welcoming and the food is excellent. I highly recommend this pub. The staff are very friendly and it’s great value for money. Also the ground is very level for parking.
This place is amazing. The staff are so lovely and the food is incredible. We have staid several nights trying the home made pies and roast meats. They serve vegetarian and gluten free too. The portion sizes are massive! Well recommend.
Brilliant for a night or more great food I had a lovely Sunday dinner with apple crumble and custard lovely friendly staff too highly recommended
