Remote clearing, difficult steep approach

Highly not recommended if you have a large van. Toward the end of the road there are narrow uphill sections on gravel. Large vehicles (I have a Ducato L2H2) cannot get up; very dangerous!!!! Be careful!!!

Do NOT go there. We tried with two vans, a Trafic and a Jumpy, but it was impossible. The road is slippery, the bends are too tight, and the road is too narrow to turn around. We were terrified and are still trembling. We had to descend in reverse and needed 2,345 maneuvers to turn around, with the rear wheels almost hanging in the air. No view in the world is worth it! Spare yourself this and take care of yourselves! Kisses.

Very calm spot. No matter where you are coming from, take the road from Porto Santo Stefano. We came from Cannatelli and barely made it with our Kangoo. The road from Pozzarello also looked like a nightmare. We took the road to Porto Santo Stefano to get down again; it is steep and narrow, but still much better than the other one.

Great place, but not suitable for motorhomes, rather for vans and similar vehicles because of the approach.

We had a very peaceful night here, remote and beautiful views. Definitely need a 4x4 to get here. We have the tent on the roof. Bit dirty on the spot, ruins + not completely flat. Few mosquitoes at this time of the year. We were joined later in the night by 2 other jeeps with tent on the roof. Only 1 spot had shade in the morning.

The road up is definitely for experts. We had some difficulty with our long Doblo and caused a bit of panic among the locals (cars go up and down a steep, narrow lane). The view from above is not bad, but it is not worth the effort. We stopped shortly before, with a stunning sunset, and I am adding the spot.

Amazing place! Extremely narrow and rough road. We had no problems with our California 4Motion. Larger vehicles should avoid it.

A beautiful place high in the mountains, but the road there was narrow, winding, and steep, and I am fairly experienced. Glad I did it, but I would not go a second time—more suitable for smaller vans or 4x4 vehicles. My 5.5-meter Hymer S555 barely made it, and I hope the descent leaves my motorhome and mirrors intact. The road Google recommended seemed unsuitable; the side road from Via del Olmen was badly eroded and overgrown. We managed via Via delle Fornaci, but with sweaty palms.

The approach is not for the faint-hearted or nervous drivers, but once you are up there, it is worth it.

Beautiful place to sleep in untouched nature. Thirty meters farther you can visit an abandoned fortress! The road there is relatively challenging, but it was no problem for us in a VW California. I would advise against taking a motorhome. Attention: do not take the road suggested by Google Maps; use Via delle Fornaci instead.
